Brothers Chirag and Chintu Patel launched Amneal Pharmaceuticals in 2002. In 2005, the business produced its first prescription medicine, and in 2006, it gained its first ANDA approval. Five medications that Mylan had to divest in order to buy the generics division of Merck KGaA were purchased by the business in 2007 from Mylan. The corporation was identified at this time as a private business with its headquarters in Paterson, New Jersey. The establishment of an R&D centre in Gujarat in 2008 marked the company's entry into India. Between 2010 and 2016, the US had continued growth in New Jersey, New York, and Kentucky.
